Every Bit of Pain

from Season One by Sangvis

/

about

Latest chapter in our series of modern metal songs inspired by classic film noir archetypes. Telling a story of a priest experiencing a crisis of faith, this track is more brooding and serious in tone compared to our usual stuff. This is still a melodic death metal song, albeit updated with elements of more modern metal genres. Mirroring the narrator’s story, the song goes through numerous structural sections: unhurried melodies are followed by more brutal bursts of frustration and discomfort.

lyrics

[1]

Carefully taking out these nails, they're stuck in my heart.
These are the nails that should have been in my palms.

Do you really dare ask if it hurts very much?
I know that hatred hurts way more for sure.

[ch]

Bourbon's all I have left,
It's not too good,
But it warms my blood.
And I don't really know
Anyone here,
But they are my kind.

[2]

Used to try looking for God,
Used to think I was close,
Then I'd show the way
To everyone who needs it.
Now I see with what it's been paved,
It's the kind of road
I don't think you need.

I used to rebel
Against what's safer,
searched for something more.
But now I savor
The hurt of every
Strike of the scourge.

Do you really dare
Question the love
In every bit of pain,
In the silence of God?

[ch]

Bourbon's all I have left,
It's not too good,
But it warms my blood.
And I don't really know
Anyone here,
But they are my kind.

[bridge]

I'm still here
Not wayworn
However
Crooked the turns

[ch]

Bourbon's all I have left,
It's not too good,
But it warms my blood.
And I don't really know
Anyone here,
But they are my kind.

[breakdown]

Used to care about pain
Used to look for its meaning.
Now it's all just neurons
Flashing blindly in my brain.

Used to blame someone else
I always had an excuse.
Did I think it was all
About what I had to lose.
