Cure for the Soul

from Season One by Sangvis

/

about

The first single in a series of episodes connected by a common concept inspired by the themes and aesthetics of film noir. Combining the raw energy of old-school heavy metal with the polish and variety of modern melodic and extreme metal subgenres, each song tells a part of the overarching story from the perspective of a different character: this time, a mysterious old bartender. Aggressive guitar riffing and dramatic melodies are brought to life through meticulous production and intense vocals.

lyrics

[1]

Meet me behind this worn-out counter,

show me the steel and lead in your wounds

you got from all this time in the gutter

Won't hurt a bit, we'll fix you up (we'll fix you up).

Think that your story's bad? Think again (Think again, pal).

I've been here too long,

I've seen it all,

every way to the grave from the cradle,

all paths to fall.

[chorus]

We are not

after justice or salvation.

We’ve been here

Longer than you think.

We're not here

for a promise of redemption.

We’re all here

Just to have a drink.

Bottoms up (x4)

[2]

Hey, pal, hold on a bit,

maybe you've had enough?

Well, then, here you go

Looks like your day was rough.

[chorus]

We are not

after justice or salvation.

We’ve been here

Longer than you think.

We're not here

for a promise of redemption.

We’re all here

Just to have a drink.

[bridge]

Come say what you've come here to say,

it's only your story to tell.

I dole out this poison all day,

see, it's just you need it like hell.

Come sit at the bar, spill your woes,

we'll listen and we will believe.

I'll pour you one more for the road,

whichever you'll take when you leave.

[chorus]

We are not

after justice or salvation.

We’ve been here

Longer than you think.

We're not here

for a promise of redemption.

We’re all here

Just to have a drink.
